Small fires
Omicron is all around us. This week we have heard from work mates, peers and friends who have caught the virus and been feeling pretty awful. Currently no one in our family is infected but I can feel it circling. It is like watching small fires appear in close proximity while I am armed only with a glass of water. It is very surreal. For the vulnerable it is a scary time. We have ordered some RATS as a precaution.
Sean and Colt had a fantastic camp at Te Wera with half the Intermediate students from Inglewood Primary. It was a full on three days of outdoor action. They came back very tired, with a mountain of dirty gear and many memories to share. The highlights were the mud run, the water slide and Sean’s eel catching. For Rory and I it was a slower, quieter three days. We now know who causes all the disruption, makes all the mess and uses all the toilet paper.
The greatest result of the week was a clear 4-monthly CT scan for Rory on Wednesday. Dr Sharma got the results to us quickly so we didn’t have a slow agonising wait. Rory has been given another four months of life. His next scan will be in July.
We have been trying to continue living. Colt and I spent two hours weeding at the PG Nops Reserve Working Bee. Rory and I continue going to the gym. Currently the benefits more than outweigh the risk but we are taking it day by day. At the New Plymouth Men Shed Peter and Rory have been making some cool chopping and serving boards using recycled timber and old handles. Unfortunately there was no time with Deanne this week as we considered her a close contact. Sean and I covered in her absence but it is boring for Rory at home with us while we are working. This morning we attended the Taranaki whanau sports day with Halberg Trust and Parafed Taranaki. We enjoyed catching up with everyone, skating, trying rugby drills and playing fun games.
