Curiosity
“Curiosity is one of the great secrets of happiness” BH McGill
One of this things I am trying to absorb from our counselling sessions is the value of curiosity and how it is the ideal remedy against the fear of losing control. We are born curious but life challenges weather curiosity so we try and manage outcomes to achieve perfection. I have been giving a lot of thought as to how to let go, live more in the moment and grow my curiosity.
There was curiosity in abundance when we took Rory, Colt and three of his friends (Neo, Cam, Arana) to walk the beach from Mokau to Awakino yesterday. The boys explored the caves, what had been washed up from the tide and the foam on the waters edge. Dead petrels, shear waters and porcupine fish were a sign of the recent stormy weather when we had a months worth of rain in four days. After fish and chips for dinner the boys slept in the lounge for Colt’s 11th birthday. This week they had been on stage as nominees for best all round Year 6 boy at Inglewood Primary. I watched it live on Facebook. Colt will be an Intermediate next year. It is bittersweet because it feels like he has grown up faster than his brothers. Happy 11th Birthday Colt. We love you to the moon and back xox
Rory has his last session with Peter in the Men’s Shed for 2021. We have been busy selling their wine carriers. He had his 12-weekly testosterone replacement injection. Rory is physically strong from his work outs at the gym and incredibly walked 7km along the beach yesterday assisted by Sean and I.
Thank you to the Child Cancer Foundation for the Christmas hamper.
