Lovely leather
We were all pleased to see Sam and Caitlyn on Wednesday, newly returned from their honeymoon in Singapore and Thailand. They showed us their photos and had brought us all gifts. We also saw the next set of sneak pictures from the wedding. There are some very moving images. We can’t wait to see the rest. We are in discussion about a family holiday overseas next year to a non-Western country. We wish for the boys to have this experience before Rory’s mobility declines any further and he is confined to a wheelchair. For Rory it is entirely dependent on travel insurance and it is touch and go. I am not sure what plan B is if we can’t secure it for him.
Last weekend we drove round the maunga to Rahotu to pick up Rory’s leather satchel from Steve Manning (https://www.facebook.com/customleatherworks666/ ). It is beautifully hand crafted and will last Rory many years. Rory loves it and wears it proudly. Steve generously gave Rory a discounted price.
Rory has received the Whill power chair for use around town but it needs modification to the arm rests. OT Coralie and the wheelchair technician made a visit to our house to come up with a plan. We hope the Overlander will be here for outdoor activities over the Christmas/New Year break. We have been advised the van for transportation of Rory and his mobility devices is a year away. Rory has had his 14 weekly testosterone injection. The Dr has moved him back to paracetamol for his back pain. Ibuprofen is too hard on his kidneys. Sean took Rory to a speech and language assessment at the hospital. They recommended some apps to help Rory with communication and breathing exercises which may help him swallow easier.
